YMCA Military Discount
The YMCA offers eligible military members and families no-cost YMCA memberships through the Military Outreach Initiative.
The program is designed primarily for military personnel and families who do not have access to a free or military-provided fitness facility near their duty location.
Who Is Eligible?
Eligibility is limited to qualifying service members and families who meet the Military Outreach Initiative requirements.
Eligible categories include active-duty independent duty personnel, qualifying National Guard and Reserve members on Title 10 orders, unaccompanied spouses and families of certain active-duty or deployed Guard and Reserve members, and eligible service members assigned to qualifying Warrior Care or recovery units.
Service members must generally be on Title 10 orders with at least six months remaining when their application is approved.
Veterans are not eligible for the federally funded Military Outreach Initiative based solely on veteran status.
How to Get the Discount
Start by completing the Military Outreach Initiative eligibility check through the Armed Services YMCA.
If eligible, download and complete the required membership application and supporting documents.
Applications are submitted to the appropriate Military Component Approving Official for the service member’s branch. Once approved, the Armed Services YMCA provides instructions for activating the membership at a participating YMCA or eligible private fitness facility.
Participation varies by location, and submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
The Military Outreach Initiative is currently funded through July 31, 2027.
