Amtrak Military & Veteran Discount
Amtrak offers U.S. active-duty military members, veterans, eligible spouses, and military dependents 10% off qualifying rail fares across the Amtrak network.
How to Get the Discount
When booking your trip on Amtrak, select the appropriate military traveler type.
Active-duty military members should select “Military (Active).” Veterans should select “Military Veteran.” Eligible military dependents should select “Military (Dependent).” Spouses of active-duty military should select “Military (Active).”
The 10% discount will automatically be applied when qualifying travel is selected. Be prepared to present qualifying military or veteran identification when required.
The discount generally applies to Coach travel. It is not valid on certain Amtrak Connection services or on the Canadian portion of services jointly operated by Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada. The offer cannot be combined with other discounts, and additional restrictions may apply.
Amtrak also offers special 15% military and veteran savings on select California routes. Check Amtrak’s current military offers for eligibility, participating routes, and terms.
