American Airlines Military Discount
American Airlines offers special military fares and travel benefits for eligible U.S. military members.
Government or military fares are available in some markets. Because military fare availability and pricing vary, contact American Airlines Reservations for current military fare options.
Free Checked Bags for Military
Active-duty U.S. military members traveling for personal or leisure purposes can check up to three bags free, with each bag weighing up to 50 pounds.
Active-duty U.S. military members traveling on orders can check up to five bags free, with each bag weighing up to 100 pounds.
Eligible military dependents traveling on orders can receive the same military baggage allowance when presenting a Military Dependent ID and a copy of the active orders.
Free military checked bags apply to eligible American Airlines marketed and operated itineraries and do not apply to codeshare flights operated by partner airlines.
Additional Military Benefits
Active-duty U.S. military members with valid military identification receive priority boarding.
Current U.S. military personnel traveling in uniform on a same-day American Airlines-operated flight may also receive complimentary Admirals Club access, subject to lounge capacity and current eligibility requirements.
American Airlines also offers vacation savings for U.S. active-duty military members, veterans, and their families through WeSalute+.

For military baggage benefits, present your valid military identification at the airport check-in counter. Military dependents traveling on orders should bring their Military Dependent ID and a copy of the active orders.
